Wendy T. Ewald

Fellow, 2000

Wendy Ewald is the recipient of a MacArthur Fellowship and grants from the National Endowment for the Arts, the Andy Warhol Foundation, and the Fulbright Commission. Her solo exhibitions include the International Center of Photography, New York; the Center for Creative Photography, Tucson; the George Eastman House, Rochester; Nederlands Foto Institute, Rotterdam; the Fotomuseum, Wintherthur, Switzerland; and the Corcoran Gallery of American Art, and her work was included in the 1997 Whitney Biennial. Her publications include Secret Games (Scalo, 2000) and To The Promised Land (Artangel, 2006). She is artist-in-resi- dence at Amherst College and has taught there since 2005. Her latest book, This Is Where I Live (MACK, 2015) was published in conjunction with This Place. America, Border, Culture, Dreamer (Brooklyn Museum), and will be published by Little, Brown in fall 2018 to accompany an installation in Philadelphia. Ewald has published I Wanna Take Me a Picture and Literacy and Justice through Photography for teachers and families. She has collaborated with partners in Tanzania for ten years to create photographic teaching materials for the national primary school curriculum. Wendy was a 2000 Fellow at the Vera List Center for Art and Politics.
