Jonathan Weinberg

Fellow, 2002

Jonathan Weinberg, PhD, is a painter and art historian. He is on the faculty of the Yale School of Art and the Rhode Island School of Design and is the consulting curator of the Maurice Sendak Foundation. His books include Ambition and Love in Modern American Art; and Male Desire: The Homoerotic in American Art. He is guest-curating the Columbus Museum of Art’s touring exhibition Art After Stonewall: 1969-89 to mark the fiftieth anniversary of the Stonewall Riots (April 2019: Leslie-Lohman Museum of Gay and Lesbian Art; Grey Art Gallery). His book Pier Groups: Art and Sex along the New York Waterfront will also be published in 2019. He has been an artist-in-residence at the Getty Research Center and the Addison Gallery of American Art. His paintings are in many important public and private collections including the Metropolitan Museum of Art. He was a 2002 Fellow at the Vera List Center for Art and Politics.
