Hip-Hop Culture contains elements of theater that can be traced to the griots of Africa. Hip-Hop manifests not only a tone of liberation and rebellion, but an ongoing “theater” that is only seen that is only seen as pop music culture. Why? And how are the more complex elements of Hip-Hop’s theater finding ways to sneak out into the mainstream to shape the politics of a new generation amid/via the minstrelsy that dominates commerce?
